| The amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry transits the San Bernardino Strait Feb. 18, 2006, en route to the Island of Leyte in the central Philippines. The Harpers Ferry and amphibious assault ship USS Essex are on their way to the area in support of humanitarian relief efforts for the victims of a devastating landslide that occurred Feb. 17, 2006. Both ships are part of the Forward Deployed Amphibious Ready Group, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force, homeported in Sasebo, Japan. U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian P.
